Sustainable Restaurant Association ‘Supplier Approval’ for Adande

SRA Approved Supplier

Adande Refrigeration is the first manufacturer of refrigeration to be awarded Approved Supplier status by the Sustainable Restaurant Association.

SRA membership is only open to suppliers who offer technology or use production methods that are ‘genuinely more sustainable than standard alternatives’ and which offer, ‘products and services to help SRA restaurant members fulfil their commitments to becoming more sustainable’.

SRA Supplier Approval has previously only been available for Food & Drink producers, but is now being extended to cover other suppliers and service providers to the restaurant industry.

The SRA works with hundreds of restaurants of all types across the length and breadth of the UK, helping them to be more sustainable and to communicate that message to their customers. It aims to make UK restaurants global leaders in sustainability by helping them to source more responsibly, minimise their impact on the environment and engage with their communities.

Members include groups such as Carluccio’s and Prezzo, Michelin-starred restaurants The Quilon and Le Manoir Aux Quat’Saisons, as well as neighbourhood favourites such as the Preston Park Tavern.

“The Adande insulated drawer refrigeration technology was invented to offer a genuinely better, more innovative alternative to conventional refrigeration and this approval reflects our commitment to the cause of greater sustainability and indeed, our unsurpassed environmental credentials in the form of energy saving and food preservation,” says Adande Chairman Nigel Bell.

“Earlier in 2012 Adande was awarded ’Best Sustainable Equipment Manufacturer’ in the Footprint Awards 2012, beating other major manufacturers Gram and Rational to scoop that highly regarded ‘green’ award for equipment manufacturers.

“Now with the award of Supplier Approval from the premier organisation promoting sustainability in the restaurant trade in the UK, Adande has demonstrated that the catering industry really is getting the message about our more sustainable refrigeration.”
